The bugtracker is being used well now. The downside to it is that there are quality issues like duplication, insufficient data, improper severity, etc.
I would like some volunteers who can take ownership for the bugtracker and ensure that there are no duplicates and the bugs are filed with proper and reproducible content. I am okay if we have a group of volunteers doing this too.
The fact of the matter is, as of now, this is acting as a very important issue for me while considering the 5.0.3 release. I need to decide by Monday whether to release the 5.0.3 with the criticals and blockers alone fixed or with the whole lot of bugs fixed.
Nevertheless, the volunteer(s) who would like to maintain the trac will remain responsible throughout ie even after the decision to release or not release 5.0.3 immediately happens.
Currently Nithya is doing a good job of managing to transport all the forum posts of type bugs to the trac. I realise that this is putting too much pressure on her as she is working on the wiki and other deliverables too.
The responsibilities for the bugtracker maintainer are as follows :-
- a) will have to keep the trac updated with all the bugs posted in the forums
- b) will have to ensure that there are no duplicate bugs
- c) assign proper severity (the coreteam will assign the ownership )
d) be in touch with the developers mailing list so that as and when the trac needs to be upgraded to the latest version, he can touch base with jeffk and get on to it. - e) find out ways by which we can make the trac more effective and respondent
- f) keep the community aware of the happenings by forum/blog/mailinglist posts.
