vtiger currently does not support PHP-5.2 version. We had to consider the variables that will be involved and we thought that this new version will be quite a BIG variable to contend with. Hence we decided to handle it later on.
Right now, the focus is to provide the very best of release in the already supported distro. Once we have that nailed down, we will have a good launching pad for the rest of the series .
Having said the above, those who want to use PHP-5.2 can still refer to the forum posts and there are quite a lot many posts that state how to go about fixing the issues that come with introducing PHP-5.2. Those fixes will make vtiger work but I am not able to commit anything at this stage but I would say that it is worth a shout. So go ahead and give it a shot but do note that vtiger will not be able to officially help you in case you get into some trouble with PHP-5.2 as vtiger is yet to test with it.
