I expect a lot of business with the 5.0.3 release simply because this will be a vert significant release in terms of stability and quality of the product. Plus also the bated-breath wait of the community to wait and use 5.0.3 is what is adding to my optimism .
A lot is riding on this and I am happy to state that I am almost satisfied with the quality of the product. This seems to be concurred with by quite a few of the community members so I guess, I can confidently state that it is a much more stable one than ever before.
This has been the most difficult of all releases till date. There has been the cliched ‘paradigm-shift’ in the release management and it had its own birth-pangs. Honestly, I was extremely sceptical of going with it and had several doubts about it and had even made plans for releasing it early only to back out a the last stages as the quality was not good enough and also some of you folks in the community put some sense in me to wait and not be rash. So, here we are today.
I have never handled such magnitude of changes in any vtiger release till date as I was always running to get the product out asap but then there comes a time when we need to stop to catch up with the gas else gas catches up with you – and this was it.
I do see a lot many guys holding back and waiting for the 5.0.3 so that they can go and just deploy and forget about issues. I really appreciate the folks waiting this long and still having faith in what we do. I just wanted to tell you that I do expect 5.0.3 to go beyond those expectations at the least!
I also feel that there will be plenty of support package subscriptions and I should say, rightly deserved so too(okay, i hear some worthy saying that you may deserve something but not necessarily get it!) but come on folks, you also know that it is a way of your showing support for vtiger, ain’t it?
We have been a little tardy in responding to posts because of the release to be made ready. Kindly do bear with us in the meantime.
You will find a lot different manner of handling the documentation too this time. Again, why should things be normal, right? Being normal is so boring!
Lastly( and I wish I can say primarily 😉 ), do keep the credit card(s) ready!
