vtigercrm-5.0.2 has been released.

This release was done by Philip and Mickie. They are learning the ropes of release handling and have had a good time in the process (i think πŸ˜‰ ) .

This release has some 60+ fixes and i hope these meet the requirements of the community. We have taken cognizance that we have some way to go in the release management and I hope we are making some progress on that end.

The rookies too have contributed to this release. The code has been made more generic for the modules. There were some hard-codings which we have removed. I would like to think that this leads to a more language-friendly code.

I am eagerly waiting to see how many downloads the 5.0.2 clocks and as usual, Murphy’s law has struck- sourceforge counter for number of downloads has gone into maintenance mode and hence the count is no longer visible.

Nithya has been working overtime to ensure that the site is much more usable. We are referring to ubuntu for the ideas and the release calendar is the immediate result of it. The release calendar will be up in due course as we have just started working with it.

By tomorrow, the 5.0.3 bugs will be allocated and we will have an estimate of the amount of effort involved to get the 5.0.3 out.

Tomorrow, Philip will have a meeting with the rest of the team to review the entire release effort of 5.0.2 and see if there were any areas of improvement. Typically, our meetings are at max 30 minutes long so we will be back to work soon πŸ˜‰

The UI and Usability changes will continue to be incorporated. 5.0.3 will focus more on the email issues that are plaguing the product as of now. There have been some code-contribution toward that end and I expect that fix to be integrated into the product.

The support is overflowing now and it is getting very very very difficult to answer all of them.

I would again request the community to help us reply to the posts.

I would encourage the community to buy the support packages wherever there is need for sure-shot time-bound support. I am sure you all will agree that this is a very reasonable agreement.
Nowadays, we are clocking on an average 1300+ downloads. The forum queries are close to 60+ in a day and more. The mailing list and the blogs too are having their own conversation threads. So, there is too much happening to give free support to all the areas.

Come on guys have a heart, the product is free and you have the source with you as well. Expecting free support on top of this is an overkill, no?
